Due to unexpected recent political decisions we had to cancel the festival in Heidelberg. Nevertheless, we try our best to present the festival in 2008. We are in contact with several institutions abroad. The suspense continues and, of course, we’ll keep you informed.

The winner in the category Interactive Markus Kison gets the special price donated by the ZKM: an artist in residence stay at the ZKM | Institute for Visual Media in Karlsruhe Germany.

From over 400 entries from all over the world the jury members Petra Kaiser (ZKM, Institute for Visual Media, Karlsruhe, Germany), Nira Pereg (video artist, Israel) and Michael Bielicky (media artist, Academy for Design Karlsruhe Germany) selected 35 works. Among these are the six price winners:
- Interactive - Markus Kison, “Touched Echo” (Germany)
- Video (divided between two winners)
- Jörg Hommer, “Spaziergang am Rand der Demokratie” (Germany)
- Daniel Burkhardt, “Rauschen & Brausen I-IV” (Germany)
- Videofilm - Daniela Rusnokova, “O Soni a jej rodine” (Slovakia)
- Game Art - Claudia Larcher, “CLAR 9000” (Austria)

In the context of the exhibition “Filmische Wahrheiten” [Cinematic Realities] at the Heidelberg Art Society, re/act presents selected works from past festivals, and Wolfram Glatz and Carmen Beckenbach talk about the past and future of the festival.

Today was the deadline for submissions. This year we have the highest number of entries ever: over 400 submissions from all over the world! The jury meeting mid-February promises to be both demanding and very interesting.

On January the 18th 2008 Marco Spies from the re/act festival team presented the international student festival in Santiago de Chile. The auditory in the Goethe Institute in Santiago was more than full, despite the local summer holidays. Students and teachers of Santiagos art schools showed keen interest in the media art festival.

Unfortunately, due to an event in India, Zachary Liebermann won’t be able to join the jury. His place will be taken by the media artist Michael Bielicky. He was born in Prague (Czech Republic) and is currently Professor at the Academy for Design in Karlsruhe (Germany).

re/act on tour! Back from Asia, Carmen Beckenbach presented the festival at Furtwangen University, Faculty for Digital Media. Next presentation will take place at the Academy for Fine Arts in Nuremberg . You are cordially invited to join us there!

Wolfram Glatz and Carmen Beckenbach are back from the re/act Asia tour. In Shanghai they presented re/act including three student projects from the 2006 festival to an international audience which was very well received. Following the presentation at the eArts festival they went on to Singapur where they introduced re/act to the Lasalle College of Arts. Last year's winner of the interactive installation category, Tiffany Sum and Dominik Schuhmacher, who's work was shown at the 2006 festival were both also present.
