8 Years of Academic Video and Media Art
From video art to media art: in 2008, re/act will take place for the fourth time, but its roots go back further. From 2000-2002, the international student video art festival Schraegspur in Oberstdorf attracted nationwide media attention in Germany on radio and television.
The organizers then extended the spectrum of the festival with further current tendencies of media art, and it was renamed re|act. In 2006, re/act was part of the TDK Time Warp in Mannheim, a festival for electronic music that attracts over 15,000 visitors each year.
For the first time, a proud venue like Mannheim Castle was chosen, juxtaposing classical architecture with todays media art.
In the past re/act has featured well-known experts from the world of arts, culture and media as jury members, lecturers and participants in the symposia, including
